There is no hiding that the 2009-2010 version of the University of Memphis men's basketball team is going to be nothing like the last 5 years. I think to call it a rebuilding year is an understatement. Will they make the tournament, I can only hope so, but 30 wins and running rough shod over C-USA just isnt going to happen this year. By the looks of everything, Josh Pastner looks as if he is working his tail off. Ill give him that, but on the other hand, he has never coached a game in his life. This season will tell alot.
There is one thing though that he definately has shown that he can do, recruit! So far for the class of 2010, he has 4 top 50 recruits committed, oh and by the way, still has 3 more open scholarships. It comes as no surprise that Memphis has a top 3 recrutiing class easily, and who knows where it will end. He is still working a 6-8 forward that is ranked in the top 40 of that recruiting class. All I am saying, is dont expect this Memphis program to be down long. And here is something to digest, the 2011 Final Four is being held in Houston, Josh Pastner's hometown, hosted by a fellow CUSA school. Possible destiny? Maybe? But the thing that will be even better, is if Memphis can win the title without John Calipari, and before he can do it at almighty Kentucky! Let Memphis fans rub that all in his face. I know I will!!!
